A standard 6.6kW solar system in Perth typically costs between $5,500 and $8,500 after the government STC rebate, depending on the equipment and your roof type. A 10kW system ranges from $8,000 to $13,000. We provide a detailed, itemised quote at no charge after a free site assessment — so you know exactly what you're getting before you commit.

The Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) scheme is a Federal Government incentive that reduces the upfront cost of your solar system. The rebate amount depends on your system size and location — Perth's strong sunshine (Zone 3) gives us one of the highest rebate rates in Australia. As of 2025, a 6.6kW system earns approximately $1,700–$2,000 off the purchase price. We apply the rebate at point of sale so you never have to claim it yourself.

In most cases, yes — significantly. Perth has some of the highest solar irradiance in the world, and Synergy's grid rates have been rising steadily. A well-designed 6.6kW–10kW system can reduce a typical Perth household's electricity bill by 60–80%. With a battery, many of our customers run close to zero grid imports for 8–10 months of the year.

Synergy's Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme (DEBS) currently pays 10 cents per kWh for excess solar you export to the grid during peak periods. This is automatically credited on your bill. Adding a battery reduces your exports but increases self-consumption of solar at the higher grid rate — in most cases, a battery improves overall financial return.

For most residential solar installs, the physical installation takes 1 day. The full timeline from quote to system being live is typically 2–4 weeks — this includes Western Power approval, equipment ordering, and scheduling. We manage the entire approval process for you.

Not necessarily — solar alone still provides excellent savings for most Perth homes, especially if you have high daytime usage (air conditioning, pool pump, home office). A battery adds value if you have high evening usage, want blackout protection, or want to maximise self-consumption. We'll help you decide during the site assessment based on your actual usage patterns.

A standard grid-connected solar system (without backup functionality) will automatically shut down during a power outage — this is a Western Power safety requirement. To have power during outages, you need either a battery with backup capability or a dedicated backup power system. This is one of our most popular add-ons, especially for families in areas prone to storm-related outages.

Most Perth roofs are suitable. North-facing roofs with minimal shading are ideal, but east- and west-facing roofs still perform very well in Perth's climate. We assess your roof during the free site visit — checking orientation, pitch, age, structural condition, and shading — and design a system that works for your specific situation.
